COMMERCIAL ADVISORY

You know you're good. Can your customers see why?

Launching something new, entering a new market, or getting plenty of interest without enough business are usually the moments to find out. I work with B2B firms to make sure customers understand why they should choose you, and that everyone in the business tells the same core story.

What I do

Most businesses do not have too little to say. They have too much. The strongest reason to choose them gets buried, different people emphasise different things, or the proof does not support the point that matters. And sometimes the story is clear, but buying still feels harder than it should be.

I go through what you are saying, what you can prove and what happens when customers engage. I find what is getting in the way, fix it, and give the business one clear story everyone can use.

The work sits underneath sales and marketing: who you are selling to, why they should care, what proves it, and what happens when they start engaging.

SAME SYMPTOM, THREE CAUSES

One pattern, three different explanations. The first is qualification. The other two need opposite fixes, and guessing between them is expensive.

CAUSE ONE

There is no real buying problem.

The buyer may be interested, but does not own the problem, the budget or the consequence. Fix the qualification, or stop.

CAUSE TWO

They haven't understood or believed it.

The value is real, but the case is unclear, weakly evidenced or buried in product detail. Fix the story or the proof.

CAUSE THREE

They understand it, and saying yes is hard.

The decision is difficult to defend or carry through approval, or the next commitment is simply too large. Fix the ask or the decision path.

The engagement

Commercial Clarity Review

A fixed-fee commercial advisory engagement for businesses that have already chosen the market, the offer or the direction, and need the commercial case to catch up.

It diagnoses what could stop that move working, or what is already weakening it, then fixes the part that is getting in the way. Sometimes that is the commercial story. Sometimes buyers understand the value perfectly and the problem sits in the proof, the ask, or the path the decision has to travel inside their business.

You finish with a written Commercial Clarity Guide: who the business is for, why buyers should choose it, the proof behind that choice, the core language everyone can use, and an application map for the touchpoints we agree.

Two weeks from receipt of materials. Fee fixed and agreed before work starts.

What the engagement covers

THE OFFER IS NEW. THE EXPERIENCE IS NOT.

Twenty-four years in agency marketing, then deep-tech hydrogen, then investor propositions connecting SMEs with capital. Different sectors, one job: find the reason a buyer should care, and make it survive contact with people who were never in the room.

Four businesses have been through this version of the work, and every one put the output into practice. Contract Finder Pro used the language directly in its website and wider messaging. Chris Binns uses the work in his pitches. A national service business took its new commercial story into sectors it had never sold to before, across its website, sales conversations and external communications. Another used the work in campaigns and outreach.

About

Twenty-four years in agency marketing, then deep-tech hydrogen and B2B media. Before all of that, South Africa, and a route here that took longer than most.

Tell me what you're trying to make work.

Launching something new, entering a new market, or getting plenty of interest without enough business? A 20-minute conversation is usually enough to work out whether I'm looking in the right place. If there is something worth fixing, I'll explain what I would do, what it costs and what you'll have at the end.
